SelfDecode DNA Collection: Cheek Swab or Saliva?

SelfDecode uses state-of-the-art cheek (buccal) swab DNA test kits for accuracy, ease, and comfort. This collection method is simple, painless, and works for people of all ages.

Why Cheek Swabs

Each SelfDecode kit includes sterile, soft-tip swabs that gently collect DNA-rich cells from the inside of your cheek. This collection method is:

• Highly reliable for DNA extraction
• Simple and painless—no spitting or fluid measurement required
• Suitable for all ages, including children and those who may have difficulty providing a saliva sample

If You Have an Older Saliva-Based Kit

We no longer accept saliva sample DNA kits purchased before August 2024. If you have an older kit, please email support@selfdecode.com to purchase a replacement cheek swab kit at a reduced price.

How Long Until You Get Results?

Once your sample reaches the laboratory, results are typically available within 2–3 weeks.
