How to order whole genome scanning

For existing customers

1. Log into your SelfDecode account.
2. Select More > Whole Genome from the navigation menu, or head to selfdecode.com/app/wgs.
3. Purchase your kit + favorite reports
4. Receive your kit in the mail — shipping typically takes 10–15 business days.
5. Collect your sample using the included cheek swab (1–2 minutes).
6. Drop the prepaid return package in the mail.
7. Wait for lab processing. Once your sample arrives at the lab, processing takes 10–20 business days.
8. Access your reports in your SelfDecode account. Results appear automatically once they're ready, and we'll notify you by email.

Who is whole genome scanning available to?

Whole genome scanning is available to customers worldwide.

Can I upgrade my existing DNA kit to whole genome scanning?

Yes. If you already have a SelfDecode DNA kit, you can upgrade directly in your SelfDecode account at the upgrade price shown in-app. The system automatically prorates the cost based on your existing kit.

How long does it take to get my results?

There are two stages: kit delivery usually takes about 10–15 business days (depending on your location), and lab processing takes 10–20 business days after your sample is received. Total time from order to results is typically 4–6 weeks.

Can I use my own whole genome data from another provider for the SelfDecode whole genome reports?

No. SelfDecode's whole genome reports require data processed through our specific pipeline. We run the full analysis from raw sequencing data through to annotations, which ensures accuracy and consistency. Third-party files can't be used to access these exclusive reports.

What file format will I receive for my results?

Your raw data will be available to download as a VCF (Variant Call Format) file from your My Account page once your results are ready.

Can I buy WGS reports individually or only as a bundle?

You can purchase reports individually on the main landing page, or opt for the (best value) 40x Whole Genome Ultimate Package — it includes the actual raw analysis, plus all Whole Genome reports, plus full access to SelfDecode's suite of reports and tools.

What's the difference between the Whole Genome packages and the Essential or Ultimate Bundles?

The Essential Bundle and Ultimate Bundle use genotyping — SelfDecode's standard DNA test, which reads about 0.1% of your genome directly and expands to roughly 200 million variants (~8%) through imputation. While our imputation process is still incredibly accurate, the 40x Whole Genome Scan uses a deeper, clinical-grade read of your entire genome at 40x coverage. Whole Genome Scanning also unlocks a more advanced set of reports (American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMG) Report, Ultimate Rare Variant Screening, Advanced Pharmacogenomics, etc.).
