Why are certain SNPs missing?

Some SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms) may not appear in your results if they weren't included in your original DNA file or weren't detected clearly during processing.

Why SNPs are missing

  • Limited file coverage: SelfDecode has a large SNP database, but the information we can show depends on what your specific DNA file includes. If your file doesn't contain a certain SNP, we can't provide that information.
  • Accuracy concerns: Sometimes we don't get an accurate enough read on a particular SNP during processing. When that happens, we don't report it, so you only ever see reliable information.
