How to Download Your Raw DNA File from 23andMe

You can download your raw DNA file from 23andMe and upload it to SelfDecode in a few simple steps. This lets you unlock health insights from your existing genetic data.

Step 1: Log Into Your 23andMe Account

  1. Go to 23andMe.com and click Sign In.
  2. Enter the email and password for your 23andMe account.
  3. Once logged in, you'll see your 23andMe dashboard.

Forgot your password? Click Forgot your password? on the login page, follow the email instructions to reset it, then log back in.

Step 2: Download Your 23andMe Raw Data File

  1. Click the arrow or profile icon in the top-right corner next to your name.
  2. Select Browse Raw Data from the dropdown menu.
  3. Click the Download tab.
  4. Check the box confirming you understand you're responsible for securely storing your genetic data.
  5. Click Submit Request.

23andMe will send you a secure download link via email. Delivery may take a few minutes to a few days (check your spam folder if needed).

Step 3: Upload Your File to SelfDecode

  1. Go to your SelfDecode dashboard.
  2. Click Upload DNA File.
  3. Select your 23andMe raw data file and complete the upload.
