How does sorting by impact work?
This intelligent sorting system ensures you see the risks that are more impactful on your health. In this article, we'll break down how this new algorithm works and where you'll find it in action.
This algorithm is implemented universally throughout the app, taking into account two crucial factors:
- Each report's Influence on Human Health: Our science team evaluates each report's influence on overall human health. This evaluation helps us prioritize reports that are more impactful on your well-being.
- Your Individual Risks: We consider each person's unique health risks associated with every health report. Personalization is key to providing you with the most relevant information.
What is an Impact Score?
Impact scores range from 0-5. These scores reflect how much of an effect each recommendation/report/gene can have on your health. A score of 5 suggests the greatest potential impact and score of 0 suggests least impact.
When a recommendation or gene or a health report affects something we can measure, we use those measurements to assign the impact score.
- For example, a health report which is most influential on one’s personal health will have higher impact score compared to other reports
- Similarly, if a recommendation that decreases cholesterol by 20% will have a higher impact score than one that decreases it by 5%
Some recommendations affect things that we cannot directly measure, like stress or mood. For these, the impact score is based on how well they work relative to other recommendations and standard treatments. The best ones get the highest scores.
If there is a lot of research that shows a recommendation works especially well for your genotype, the impact score gets increased.
Health Report Sorting Algorithm Explained
Let's take a closer look at how the report sorting algorithm operates:
- We prioritize risks (red and yellow emoji), placing the reports that are most influential on health and higher personal risks at the top of the list. We then arrange them from highest risk score to lowest risk score.
- In cases where several risks are equally important, we prioritize the reports where you have higher risks.
Where You'll Experience the New Sorting Logic
The new sorting logic is implemented wherever we generate personalized lists based on health reports' risks. Here are the key areas where you'll encounter it:

With the new report sorting algorithm in place, you can trust that you'll receive health reports tailored to your specific needs and risks. This smart sorting ensures that the most critical information is easily accessible and helps you make informed decisions about your health.
