How to order lab tests through SelfDecode

Important: These instructions apply only to purchasing lab tests (blood, saliva, or urine) through SelfDecode Labs and do not apply to SelfDecode DNA test kits.

As a SelfDecode professional user, you have two options when it comes to lab testing: your clients can order tests directly through their own account, or you can place the order on their behalf. This guide walks you through the process of ordering lab tests for a client. If your client prefers to handle it themselves, feel free to share our Lab Shop FAQ for individual user instructions.

Step-by-Step: Ordering Quest Lab Tests for a Client

  1. Go to your My Clients page and choose the client you’d like to order labs for.
  2. From the navigation menu, select Blood Tests > Recommended Tests. Here you’ll find a custom blood panel curated for your client based on their genetics, labs, lifestyle data, and health goals.
  3. Click Buy at the bottom of the Recommended Tests page. Don’t worry—you’ll have the chance to add or remove any tests before finalizing your order.

  1. Once you're redirected to your cart in our Lab Shop, you can:
    • Remove any tests you don’t wish to include.
    • Add additional tests by selecting Shop Labs in the top right corner and clicking Add to Order beside any desired tests.
  2. Once your cart is finalized, select Order Now. Enter your client’s personal information and your preferred payment method to complete the checkout process.

⚠️ Note: Due to state regulations, we are unable to process lab orders for residents of Arizona, New York, New Jersey, or Rhode Island.

❗ Please do not include a country code (e.g., +1) when entering your client’s phone number.

Once the order is placed...

  1. You’ll receive an email confirming the purchase.
  2. If your client has a SelfDecode account, they will also receive an email notification.
  3. The lab requisition will be reviewed and signed by a physician, which may take 24–48 hours.
  4. Once approved, you’ll be notified by email and the requisition will be available for download on your Orders page.

Next Steps for Your Client

Once the requisition is ready, your client can schedule an appointment with a nearby Quest Diagnostics location.

Waiting for Results

Once the lab test is completed, we’ll notify you/your client by email. Results typically take 10-14 business days.

To access the results:

  1. Select the client on your My Clients page.
  2. Navigate to Blood Tests > Search Test Results to view and explore your client’s biomarkers.
  3. Click on any marker name to read more and track progress.
  4. You can also download a PDF of the results from the Orders page.
