Created Clients vs. Connected Clients

There are two types of client profiles on PromicsEdge — we'll explain the difference below:  

Created Client

You have access to the account, but the client does not.

  • You create clients through your pro account dashboard (My Clients > Add Client > Create a Client)
  • Choose this option if you do not want them to have their own account.
  • There is no annual fee to maintain access to a Created Client's results.
  • Created Clients do not have access to any of their own data via their own account, so it's up to you to share results with them.

Connected Client

Both the client and you have access to the account.

  • When a client purchases their own account through your referral link (My Clients > Copy Referral Link), they are a Connected Client.
  • They have access to their own results through a SelfDecode account, and you have access to their results on your PromicsEdge dashboard.
  • The client is responsible for paying an annual membership fee. If they do not renew, you also lose access to their results.

How to Choose Your Client Type

Choose Created Clients if:

  • You prefer to actively manage your clients and their health data.
  • You prefer setting custom prices and selling custom packages (bundles).
  • Your clients need extra guidance and prefer you to manage their results.
  • You want to incorporate our PDF reports into your existing offer.

Choose Connected Clients if:

  • You have a lot of potential clients (or affiliates) but don't manage them actively.
  • You have more independent clients who want to dive into their results on their own.
  • You prefer not to deal with with marketing and sales of our reports.

You can also mix and match these models depending on what works best for each client. 

How to Change Client Type

  • You have the option to connect with your Created Client and set them up with their own account. To do so, just select Connect to the right of their name on your My Clients page, and they'll be sent an invitation to create their own password and log in.
  • If you connect and share results with your client, ownership of their account and subscription will transfer to them. The client will then need to pay a renewal fee ($120) to maintain access to their results when the subscription expires.
  • The subscription's creation date begins when you create a client on your account, not the date that access is shared with the client. This means that if you connect with your client before one year from the creation date, they'll have time to access the results before the account expires. If you connect with your client after one year, they will need to renew their subscription before gaining access to the results.
  • As a provider, you will retain access to your client’s results indefinitely, unless you transfer the ownership to them. In that case, your client will be responsible for paying the renewal fee to maintain access.

How to Tell Your Client's Type

For a Connected Client, you will see "Connected" to the right of their name on your My Clients page. For a Created Client, you will see an option to connect them (transfer ownership).

Access Clients do not have access to the results through the SelfDecode platform. Results can be shared externally via PDF reports only. Both you and the client will have digital access to the results once connected.
Adding Lab Results You will be responsible for uploading lab test results. You or your client may add their own lab test results.
Type of client  Suited for clients who may feel overwhelmed with the data and/or need more guidance in understanding their results. Suited for more autonomous clients. They want to explore reports themselves while receiving your guidance.
Private Messaging / File Sharing Not available. Reports can be shared with your clients in the form of downloaded PDFs. You can securely message and share files with your clients within our app.

Do My Clients Use SelfDecode or PromicsEdge?

  • Your created clients will see the PromicsEdge logo on the PDFs you share with them.
  • Your connected clients will use SelfDecode and see SD logo on all products.
  • If you create a client and then connect it (transfer ownership), you client will land on the SelfDecode page.
