PromicsEdge Longevity Screener FAQ

The Longevity Screener is a comprehensive risk assessment tool that goes beyond standard genetic reports. By combining DNA data, genetic ancestry, and biometric information, it calculates your client's risk of developing various health conditions over the next 10 years and throughout their lifetime — giving you a precise, personalized foundation for preventive care planning.

Requirements

The Longevity Screener requires a SelfDecode DNA kit. Third-party DNA files are not compatible with this report due to the specific genetic data needed. If your client currently has an uploaded third-party file, they'll need a SelfDecode DNA kit to access the Longevity Screener.

What It Covers

The Longevity Screener evaluates risk for 25+ major health conditions, including:

  • Type 2 Diabetes
  • Hypertension
  • Cardiovascular Disease & Coronary Artery Disease
  • Stroke & Atrial Fibrillation
  • Alzheimer's Disease & Parkinson's Disease
  • Breast, Prostate, Colorectal & Ovarian Cancer
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis & Multiple Sclerosis
  • Osteoporosis
  • Crohn's Disease & Ulcerative Colitis
  • Celiac Disease, Asthma, Psoriasis
  • Melanoma, Glaucoma, Lupus
  • And more

For each condition, the report provides odds ratios, 10-year risk scores, and lifetime risk scores — helping you prioritize which areas need the most attention.

How It Works

The Longevity Screener integrates multiple data sources to deliver its insights:

Genetic Information — Analyzes your client's DNA to identify genetic predispositions across all covered conditions.

Genetic Ancestry — Accounts for ancestral background and hereditary traits that may influence risk levels differently across populations.

Biometric Data — Incorporates metrics like BMI, self-reported health conditions, and uploaded lab results for a more complete picture.

By combining these data points, the Longevity Screener provides a more nuanced assessment than a DNA-only report.

How It Differs from Standard Genetic Risk Reports

You may notice that the Longevity Screener sometimes shows a different risk level than a standard genetic predisposition report for the same condition. This is expected — and it doesn't mean either report is wrong.

Standard Genetic Reports assess risk based solely on DNA. They tell you what your client's genetic makeup suggests about their predisposition to a condition.

The Longevity Screener layers in additional factors — ancestry, biometrics, existing conditions, and lab data — to produce a more holistic assessment. For example, even if a client has a high genetic predisposition for a condition, the Longevity Screener might show a lower overall risk because other factors are protective. The reverse can also be true.

Both perspectives are clinically valuable. Use genetic reports to understand predisposition and the Longevity Screener to understand real-world, contextualized risk.

What to Do When a Client Has High Risk

Step 1: Review the Report Open the detailed report to identify the specific conditions flagged as high risk and the recommended lab markers to test.

Step 2: Analyze Labs Upload or review your client's lab results to establish a baseline. Understanding where they currently stand helps you track progress and prioritize interventions.

Step 3: Follow Recommendations Implement the personalized recommendations provided in the report. These are tailored to address the specific risk factors identified and can significantly reduce your client's risk over time.

Step 4: Optimize & Monitor Work with your client to bring lab markers to optimal levels through lifestyle changes, supplementation, and ongoing monitoring. Revisit the Longevity Screener periodically as new data becomes available.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Longevity Screener included with the standard client profile? No. The Longevity Screener is part of the Medical Bundle, included in the Essential+ and Ultimate Bundles. It can also be purchased as a premium add-on. See our Professional Checkout & Pricing page for current pricing.

Can I use a third-party DNA file? No. The Longevity Screener requires a SelfDecode DNA kit for the level of genetic data accuracy needed.

How often should clients retake or revisit the Longevity Screener? The genetic component doesn't change, but individual health report risk scores can shift as your client uploads new lab results, or reports changes in health status.

What's the difference between 10-year risk and lifetime risk? 10-year risk scores help you prioritize what to address now. Lifetime risk scores help you plan for long-term prevention. Together, they give you a complete picture for proactive care.
