How to Find Your Reports and Raw DNA File

Once your sample has been processed we email you, and your purchases appear in your Report Shop account at selfdecode.com/shop.

Your DNA file is processed but you see no results

This is the most common thing customers run into, and it is usually not an error. A processed DNA file on its own does not produce results — reports are bought separately, and each one you buy is generated from the DNA data already on file.

If you have not bought a report yet, choose one in the Report Shop and it will generate against your existing sample. No second kit needed.

Downloading a report as a PDF

Every report you buy can be read online or downloaded as a PDF. When you generate the PDF, a dropdown lets you choose the format:

  • Simple — a concise overview, with simplified headers and few recommendations, if any.
  • Detailed — full explanations for every section, along with the recommendations. Considerably longer than the Simple version.
  • Custom — choose the sections yourself, so the PDF holds only what is useful to you.

You can download a report as often as you like, in any of the three formats.

Downloading your raw DNA file

Your raw DNA data is yours, and it is included with your kit whether or not you buy a report.

  1. Sign in to your Report Shop account at selfdecode.com/shop.
  2. On your My Results page, select Download next to You have an active DNA file.

  1. Your file downloads automatically, as a .txt file.

You see a “Contact Support” message

That message can mean there was a technical error or that your DNA sample was not usable — usually a low-quality read at the lab. Email support@selfdecode.com and our team will walk you through the next steps and make sure you are taken care of.

A report shows an error or will not generate

Email support@selfdecode.com with your order details and the exact message you are seeing. We will look into it and get the report generated for you.
